Developing an HCI tool development tool that is usable, adaptable, general enough to cover the diverse range of real-time control system is a difficult challenge. It requires a careful study of the principles to support usability and defining the adaptable system. These two subsections are discussed in this chapter, which present the general requirements for HCI development tool. This chapter also discusses two other headings, the interface notation and system architecture in preparation for UIMS design discussed in the next chapters.
